WA and football

Posted by Josh on 30 September, 2006

Well i am back travelling for a few days and so had to add to the blog, particularly with the result in the football this afternoon. When we arrived on thursday night the airport had all blue and yellow balloons and every second person had some WCE memorabilia which made me glad that out of everywhere we could have been, we were in the home state to watch the Eagles. It is great to watch in a room full of eagles supporters.

As far as the game goes i am still recovering, it was so stressful near the end that i can’t believe we held on to win. It will kick in soon that we won and i will be celebrating.

Perth and Geraldton are gorgeous at the moment as well, not as good as Di but pretty good, the water here is so clear and turquoise that it makes me want to come back more often. Time to go have some sleep before dinner, i am worn out.

Future prospects

Posted by Josh on 13 September, 2006

Well i am happily back at home, and now wondering what i will do with the blog from now. While i could continue blogging on here for general stuff, i don’t know if i really want to, hmm.

Anyway i have just checked the stats and during the trip there were 2800 views and 600 feeds, something i am pretty happy with.

So if anyone has suggestions for what to do with the blog, let us know.

Last days unlucky

All over red rover

Posted by Josh on 8 September, 2006

Well tomorrow is our last day in Hawaii before heading back to Australia. Overall i am pretty happy to be getting home, Hawaii has been cool, nice and relaxing even though the surf sucks at the moment. It turns out it is the off season for surfing, so no good body surfing at all this week.

Tomorrow we will probably be going Parasailing which should be pretty cool, 200m above sea level.

Going home will be pretty interesting just settling back into normal life, i am really looking forward to it and a bit scared at the same time. I haven’t got a job for at home which isn’t great and i just discovered i have a teaching prac in 2 weeks, argh. Oh well it will be great to get home to Diana, Mum, Dad and Fleur (even though she ran away to New Zealand to aviod me getting home) and everyone else.

Hitchhiking

Posted by Josh on 2 September, 2006

Well this is short but for one of my backpacking experiences, Caleb, myself and a girl from Melbourne called Danielle hitchhiked at midnight in LA after we missed the last bus and we didn’t get killed, we had so much fun trying to get a ride and finally got a guy who went further then his house just to drop us off, he was cool. Hitchhiking is so much fun.

Modesto

Posted by Josh on 26 August, 2006

Well our schedule for travel has definately changed from the planned route for North America. Today we are in Modesto for our second day hanging out with Frank and Steph. We just couldn’t be bothered (American friends hate us using that phrase) travelling all the time and sight seeing so we are here for a few days before flying on a 8? passenger plane to Vegas for 3 nights. Also rather then staying in a hostel, we are staying at a Casino there, The Excalibur which is right on the strip and nice and keep to stay in for the nights we are there. Saturday night it is 200 a night, sunday it is 47 :)

So yes things are good, we went outlet shopping yesterday and i called Di and that was most of my day.

Will put up photos sometime today.

On the road again!

Posted by Josh on 22 August, 2006

Well last night we arrived in San Fran after 11 weeks in Spicer, Minnesota and i was ready to leave, but then i remembered i wasn’t ready for hostels again either. All is good, we caught up with Frank and Steph Edge and will again tomorrow before Frank gets some surgery on a hip done.

Today we biked across the golden gate bridge and through the prestigous areas to a old growth forest known for the tallest trees in the world. The map never explained how ridiculously hard it would be to ride up the hills to get there though so we are definately worse for wear.

Tomorrow we will check out Alcatraz and get in a San Francisco cable car just for some fun. Quinten Lynch kicked a bag incase you didn’t hear.

Choas Games

Posted by Josh on 17 August, 2006

Last night Caleb and I organised an activity for ‘Wet and Wild’ which was called Chaos Games. The games were ‘Paint Jousting’, ‘Army Crawl through leftovers’, ‘Jelly Skulling’, ‘Feed the baby’ and ‘Spin the broom (joe hutch style) obsticle course’. Overall it was pretty hilarious, everyone got covered in paint, jelly, custard and various other things and were running around throwing things at each other.

I don’t have any photos at the moment, but i will put them up, also my clothes are in the bin right down, i didn’t even try and wash them.

Fun and only 3 days left of camp. So ready to go i am too tired.

Cyber Games without the games

Posted by Josh on 8 August, 2006

Ok, so this week i am working with Cyber Games camp which is meant to be a camp for computer games, basically a camp for geeky people. Anyway i am a bit annoyed because in the schedule, there are 3 activity times a day and only one of them is computer games, the other ones are things like canoeing, biking or movies and stuff like that.

When i wanted to add more games to the schedule, apparently the kids would get too bored with playing games for that long. I know atleast my cabin wants more games but what can i do.

So i am frustrated at the moment, but only 2 weeks left at camp. Ya to travel and home.
